Aardvark: A precursor to the Disappearance series, I made this fine fellow around the time I visited the National Gallery’s “Radical Harmony” neo-impressionists exhibition. Consequently, he was decorated in the pointillist style.

Vulture: An experiment in terracotta sculpture, inspired by the bird bowls and a first step along the way to making my Disappearance series. He is pretty cool; I will definitely come back to this style of work later and see where it leads.

Solitaire: My response to the covid lockdowns, inspired by the giant Mexican Olmec heads. I sculpted a figure from layers of rayon padding soaked in porcelain slip. The result was like a layered sedimentary rock in the form of a lonely head. A few porcelain viruses were its only companions on the solitaire board.

Wall Plaques: These were the pre-cursors to my gargoyle collection, made for fun between projects when studying for my HND. I learned this “wall plaque” technique from the talented James Ort at his gorgeous Phoenix Studios in Oxfordshire.

Cheetah: I also learned this slab-building and underglazing technique from James Ort on a weekend course.
