The college project was “architectural abstraction”. I chose church spires as my architecture. For the abstraction, I found inspiration whilst listening to Jeff Wayne’s “War of the Worlds”. So I created the MarsJars – a series of lidded vessels in the form of very spiky little red men from that warlike planet.

Their latent threat can be best appreciated by seeing them in the context of the 1953 movie. (You need to turn up the volume!)
Music by Jeff Wayne / original film footage from “The War of the Worlds” directed by Byron Haskin.
