I find something compelling about the shape of an egg. Our world is full of eggs acting as a starting point for life. An egg might contain a baby animal from a bird or fish to a lizard or insect. Decorative eggs may be crammed with chocolates or toys, or if you’re very lucky, a Fabergé clock!
I made a plaster model of an ostrich-sized egg and used it to make a mould for slip casting. For my first clutch, I decided to start with demonstrably unoccupied eggs. These “ghost eggs” give no clue as to what they may have contained.
