The first of these forms was a “warm up” exercise after a break from ceramics over the summer. To my surprise it metamorphosed into a candlestick. Because they are hollow, a light can be put in the base which adds to the depth and texture. (Click on an image for a better view.)
Originally I put a night light candle into the base which looks great. But found that it warms up the ceramic which starts to melt the candle on top! The solution is either to use an electric nightlight or to put a nightlight in the top instead of a candle as the foil tray stops it from dripping.
